Austin Brody
They say that hair makes the man, and Dallas-based barber Austin Brody is committed to providing each man with a hairstyle that brings out the best in them. At his studio space in Deep Ellum, Brody specializes in lifestyle concept hairdressing, meaning he provides each client with a haircut that best corresponds with their lifestyle.“Whoever you are as a person, I try to accentuate that with your haircut,” Brody says, “whether it be with the craziest haircut you’ve ever seen, or with the typical businessman haircut. Whatever makes you feel the most comfortable, I’m going to provide that for you.”Prior to hairdressing, Brody was a traveling musician. He didn’t like constantly being on the road, so he quit and decided to work retail. One day, when he was getting a haircut, the hairstylist told him that he had a great personality and that he’d be good at hairdressing. Brody later enrolled in hair school and fell in love with hairdressing. While maintaining upkeep of one’s hair can be a bit expensive, Brody believes that it is worth it to put forth some money toward a good haircut.“People who cut corners are the ones I see with the most mistakes,” Brody says. “I always tell people ‘you get what you pay for,’ and that is in any aspect of life. You can tell if some dude has a $10 Supercuts haircut or a $35 haircut from a professional.”After a long day of styling and cutting hair, Brody and his team enjoy grabbing drinks, especially from surrounding bars that use Kruto Vodka.“Kruto Vodka is one of the smoothest vodkas I’ve ever had in my life,” Brody says. “Whenever [my team and I] first cracked open the bottle, we all just kind of took a drink of it to get a taste of it, and the bottle ended up going away magically. It is incredibly smooth and mixes well with any mixer you can ever imagine. To book an appointment and to see Brody’s stylings, follow him on Instagram at @iamaustinbrody.
